What are some external but important factors which impact the ranking?

Answer: Some of the external but important factors are time spent on the site, page views per visit, bounce rate, and returning visitors.

These are explained one by one here with a short definition.

Time Spent on the site: In Web analytics, including Google Analytics, the average time on site is a type of visitor report that provides data on the amount of time (in minutes or seconds) visitors have spent on your website.

Page views per visit: Pages per visit is a Web analytics measure of how many pieces of content (Web pages) a particular user or group of users views on a single website. Pages per visit is usually displayed as an average, which is calculated by dividing the total number of page views by the total number of visitors.

Example:

Let suppose, today your website earned 1000 page views by 90 users. So 1000/90 is approximate 11 page views per user as an average.

Bounce rate: The percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page.

Returning Visitors: New visitors are people who are coming to your site for the first time on a device. Returning visitors have come back to your site before. The ratio of new visitors to returning visitors can be very telling, showing the effectiveness of your inbound digital marketing techniques across the web.
